Bishop’s Stortford Sinfonia performing An Evening of Fairytales at Bishop’s Stortford College on Saturday October 19
A magical evening of enchanting music for all ages will get Bishop’s Stortford Sinfonia’s new concert season under way later this month.
The orchestra, directed by principal conductor Rebecca Miller, will perform An Evening of Fairytales at Bishop’s Stortford College on Saturday October 19 (7pm).
The concert will begin with the toe-tapping overture from Ethel Smyth’s opera The Boatswain’s Mate, followed by Greig’s evocative Peer Gynt Suite.
The highlight of the programme is Rimsky-Korsakov’s magical setting of the story of Scheherazade.
The orchestra is also delighted to be hosting a free Inside the Music session in the afternoon before the concert, from 3.30pm to 5pm, thanks to generous support from Arts in East Herts. The session offers people of all ages an opportunity to join the final rehearsal and experience how an orchestra prepares for a performance.
Bishop’s Stortford Sinfonia is formed of a uniquely talented group of local musicians and has been providing musical entertainment and education in and around the town since 2015.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased online at www.bishopsstortfordsinfonia.com or on the door by cash or card.
If you would like to attend the free Inside the Music session in the afternoon, book a place by emailing info@bishopsstortfordsinfonia.com. A discount for the concert will be available for those who come to the free session. More details are available at www.bishopssstortfordsinfonia.com.
