Get your skates on to Hockerill Anglo European College’s Christmas market this Sunday (Dec 8) where a skating rink will be among the many festive attractions.

A whole host of activities awaits visitors to the event taking place at the Dunmow Road school between 11am and 4pm, including stalls manned both by local producers and pupils as well as a barbecue, mince pies, mulled wine and music.

Katie Fraser, co-ordinator of the students' stalls, said: “We will have over 30 stalls selling food and gifts from around the world, including locally produced honey and beeswax wraps, Nigerian pies and clothing, upcycled dog bandanas and plant kits. Look out for sweets, cakes, comics, dog treats, festive games and even a chocolate fountain.”

More than 20 professional stallholders will be selling gifts, food and drink and Christmas present ideas, ranging from jewellery, scarves and scented candles to homewares and crafts. There will be face painting and henna tattoos too.

New for 2019 will be Christmas carols sung by Wiggly Willow performing arts club at 2pm plus a winter barbecue and ‘Topple the Teacher’ game.

Visitors wanting to take to the skating rink can book £5 tickets in advance. For details, email HPF@hockerill.com or visit the Hockerill Parents and Friends page on Facebook. Admission to the market is £1 for adults and free for children.
