Mike Mayfield, Roxy Searle and Mike ‘Happnin’ Boy’ playing Retune in June at South Mill Arts in Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday June 18
Retune is excited to announce its latest show at South Mill Arts in Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday June 18. Performing on the night are Mike Mayfield, Roxy Searle and Mike ‘Happnin’ Boy’, so guests can expect a real treat of live music.
Mike Mayfield will headline the night. He is currently working on an album following up from single This.
“I play soul, blues and singer-songwriter music,” he says. “Some of my influences are Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Hendrix and Joni Mitchell.
“I’m looking forward to playing because there’s nothing quite like the energy and connection that live music brings. My genre is a blend of soul, R&B and funk with a touch of jazz influences.
“Being creative is essential for my wellbeing. It provides an outlet for expressing my emotions, thoughts and experiences. Creating music allows me to process life’s ups and downs and it’s incredibly therapeutic. Music is my way of connecting with myself and the world around me.”
As a guitarist and singer he has worked for Universal, Island, Warner, Parlophone, Virgin Records and many others. Artists he has collaborated with include Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, Leona Lewis, Becky Hill, Engelbert Humperdinck, Meghan Trainor, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Eliza Doolittle, Labrinth, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Jessie J, Jamie Cullum, Beverley Knight, London Community Gospel Choir, Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child) and Wretch 32.
This year he plans to release new music that he has been working on over the past months. “I’m excited to explore new sounds and collaborate with other talented artists,” he says.
Roxy Searle will bring her soulful energy to the evening while Mike ‘Happnin’ Boy’ is likely to play a set of blistering blues to open up proceedings, accompanied by Grant Howard on harmonica.
