December at South Mill Arts: Rapunzel, A Christmas Carol, Spencer, The Nutcracker, Midweek Music and Santa's grotto

'Tis the season to be jolly - and South Mill Arts in Bishop's Stortford has got something for everyone to get them in the festive spirit this December.

Rapunzel, A Magical Christmas Adventure – Sat 4 Dec to Sun 2 Jan
Want to make Christmas special this year? Then get tangled up with a host of loveable characters from this magical fairy tale.
With a wicked witch, a feisty heroine, a talking horse and a host of adventures, Rapunzel combines all the magic of a traditional Christmas panto with a vibrant take on a classic and much-loved story.
Packed with songs, dance routines and jokes a-plenty, there is something for everyone, so book your tickets now for the family show of the year.

Santa's Grotto – Sat 4 Dec to Christmas Eve
Santa has left Mrs Claus at home preparing for Christmas while he makes a special visit to South Mill Arts this holiday season.
You will start your festive adventure with a fun craft activity before making your way up to see Father Christmas.
Not only will you receive a special gift, but you will also hear an enchanting festive story from Santa himself.
Your visit will end with delicious hot chocolate and Christmas cookies in the Maltings Bar – the perfect treat to end a magical experience.

A Christmas Carol – Tue 7 Dec, 7pm
European Arts Company presents a heart-warming evening in the presence of the author himself as actor John O'Connor delightfully recreates Charles Dickens’s famous performance of one of his best-loved stories.
A Christmas Carol was the first public reading Dickens gave of his own work. He enacted it over 150 times and the effect on the public was phenomenal. "The success was most wonderful and prodigious – perfectly overwhelming and astounding altogether!" he said after the first night.
This Christmas, you can experience what it must have been like to be in the audience. Come and enjoy a seasonal treat in the spirit of Christmas past, present and future.

The Nutcracker – Thu 9 Dec, 7pm
Enjoy a live cinema screening of this sparkling ballet as an enchanting, festive treat for the whole family.
The Nutcracker is a family favourite at Christmas and is one of the most delightful ways to discover the enchantment of ballet.
The story of Clara, a girl on a magical Christmas Eve adventure, is accompanied by sparkling music and even dancing sweets.
