SummerFest to raise funds for outdoor activities at Bishop’s Stortford primary school Summercroft

SummerFest organisers are hoping supporters will dig deep so they can provide a new sandpit for schoolchildren in Bishop’s Stortford.

The free-to-enter event at Summercroft Primary School takes place on Sunday, June 22, from noon to 3pm, and promises to be a fun-filled afternoon.

Attractions include inflatables, an outdoor disco and live DJ, games and stalls, food vendors including Grace Makes Dough, Eat Greek and Coco’s Crepes, JB Ices ice cream van, a licensed bar by the Belgian Brewer, face painting, glitter tattoos and craft activities.

There will be performances by clubs, including KBD Dance and the Stortford Cheerleaders.

A raffle will feature prizes including a six-week programme with AbFabFit Club, a £100 John Lewis voucher and four tickets to Audley End Miniature Railway.

The school’s parent-teacher association (PTA) is fundraising to enhance the Plaw Hatch Close primary’s outdoor provision for pupils. That includes improvements to its forest school, installation of a sandpit and the development of sensory circuits and inclusive play spaces.

The aim is to enrich learning, support wellbeing and encourage imaginative and physical play for all students.

PTA chair Claire Williams said: “SummerFest 2025 is shaping up to be the highlight of our PTA calendar, and we’re thrilled to welcome the wider community to Summercroft for what promises to be a fantastic event.

“We are especially grateful to our primary sponsor, iad Estate & Letting Agents, for their generous support. We’d also like to thank JPC Garden Design & Landscaping and Bishop’s Stortford Judo for their valued sponsorship.

“A huge thank you goes out to all our amazing volunteers and everyone on the PTA organising committee. It’s been a real team effort, and this event simply wouldn’t be possible without such dedication and enthusiasm.”

Vice-chair Emma Reid added: “We’re so excited to bring SummerFest to Summercroft! It’s going to be a fantastic afternoon filled with music, dancing, bouncy castles and the chance to test your Gladiator strength in Duel.

“Game Alley will be packed with fun and prizes, and we can’t wait to welcome the whole community to join the celebration.”
