Taylor Swift show, The Magic of Science and Mufasa among half-term highlights at South Mill Arts in Bishop’s Stortford




The hits of one music’s biggest stars, explosive science and big-screen adventures can all be enjoyed at South Mill Arts this half term.

The Bishop’s Stortford venue, in South Road, also has crafts sessions and storytimes to keep youngsters and their families entertained.

Top of the bill is Taylor Swift tribute show Fearlessly Taylor on Friday February 21 (1pm and 7pm).

Little Swifties of all ages will love singing along as Ashleigh Stevens faithfully recreates the global icon’s back catalogue, featuring tunes like Shake It Off, 22, Blank Space, Love Story, You Belong with Me and Karma.

The show has wowed audiences at clubs and festivals around the world as it celebrates the magic and legacy of the American superstar.

The 1pm performance will see Stevens perform to backing tracks while the 7pm show will feature a live band.

Experience a non-stop action-packed interactive show like no other with The Magic of Science on Thursday February 20 (2pm).

Hang on to your seats as the wondrous and miraculous feats of science are fused with the mystery of magic in mindblowing experiments that will capture the imagination.

Expect suspense on a high-voltage adventure - and lots and lots of mess!

Musical drama Mufasa (PG), the prequel to 1994’s The Lion King, is being shown on Tuesday February 18 (11am and 2pm).

Mufasa, a cub lost and alone, meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of a group of misfits searching for their destiny.

The film, directed by Barry Jenkins, stars Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover and Beyoncé, as well as the latter’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, in her feature film debut.

Strap yourselves in for action-adventure comedy Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on Saturday February 22 (11am).

Starring Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz and Keanu Reeves and directed by Jeff Fowler, the movie, based on the classic video game series, follows Sonic, Knuckles and Tails as they reunite against powerful new adversary Shadow.

For something at a slightly slower pace, children aged three to 11 can have fun with fans at drop-in crafts sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, February 18-20 (10am-2pm).

Join The People’s Theatre Company as it tells the tale of A Big Egg at a special storytime on Wednesday February 19 (1pm).

For Jack and his little sister Molly, there’s nothing more astonishing and magical than an egg. But how big can an egg get? And what wonderful surprises might there be inside?

Based on the picture book by Steven Lee and performed with a magical mixture of live action, animation and puppetry, this sing-along musical will delight even the most hard-boiled of theatregoers.
