Stand-Up Stortford: Mark Simmons, Robert White and Josh James on the bill for comedy night at South Mill Arts
Three comedians will be standing up for Stortford on Saturday July 23 as they perform at South Mill Arts centre.
The second ever Stand-up Stortford comedy night in the Maltings Bar area at the South Road venue features master of one-liners Mark Simmons, Britain's Got Talent runner-up Robert White and Essex Comedian of the Year Josh James.
Simmons is a regular on BBC Two's Mock the Week and has supported Rob Brydon, Seann Walsh and Rob Beckett on tours. One reviewer described him as "a talented comic with an artisan’s grasp of joke-writing".
2018 BGT runner-up White – who was beaten only by Lost Voice Guy – was heralded by judge David Walliams as "just one of the funniest performers I’ve ever seen", adding: "I’ve never laughed like that!"
Another reviewer said White provided "souped-up, risqué, keyboard-based songs, waspish asides and neurotically charged camperie from a hyperactive man-child who is among the most original of this year’s Fringe".
James is a teller of "deceptively clever laddish jokes" and was said by the British Comedy Guide to be "one of the best newcomers on the circuit, but if all fails he'll probably end up on Love Island".
The entertainment begins at 7.30pm. To book tickets, which cost £15, see https://southmillarts.ticketsolve.com/shows/873633841?mc_cid=6609f0026c&mc_eid=6b4304d082.
