More news, no ads

Outdoor theatre makes a return to Hatfield Forest this summer.

Quantum Theatre will be performing its production of Beatrix Potter's Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny on Saturday (July 17).

Illyria also returns in August with its brand new musical adaptation of the Further Adventures of Doctor Dolittle. This features puppets and plenty of sing-a-long songs for the audience to enjoy.

The company will also bring its production of Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore to the National Trust landmark.

Quantum Theatre, on stage at 5.30pm, tours nationally with new adaptations of classic texts and Shakespeare plays.

All its productions are written/adapted and directed by the artistic director, Michael Whitmore, whose work captures the essence and spirit of the original texts whilst presenting them in a fast-paced, tightly choreographed and highly entertaining style.

Jessica Selous is co-artistic director and paints the sets, creates the costumes and makes props and puppets while Gideon Escott writes and arranges the music.

Illyria will bring the Further Adventures of Doctor Dolittle to Hatfield Forest on Sunday, August 1, at 5.30pm.

On Friday, August 27, from 5.30pm, comic opera HMS Pinafore gets the full Illyria treatment, faithfully performed by a reduced cast on a beautiful set.

Illyria was created in 1991 and has won four international "Best Performance" awards, delighting audiences the length and breadth of the UK, and in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, the United States and Canada.
