Vela Ensemble performing music@stansted concert at St John’s Church on Saturday March 22

The music@stansted concert season comes to an end with a performance by the Vela Ensemble on Saturday March 22.

The concert takes place at St John’s Church in Stansted from 7.30pm.

Saffron Walden-based concert pianist Siu Chui Li and her husband Alex Redington - first violin of the world-famous Doric Quartet - are artistic directors of the Linton Concert Series. They recently invited several friends to join them in forming a flexible chamber cooperative, which they named the Vela Ensemble.

For their Stansted concert, Siu and Alex will form a piano trio with American-born cellist Bartholomew La Follette.

Their recital will include piano trios by two strongly contrasting, but equally well-loved, composers: Brahms and Fauré.

A more unusual piece will be the Duo Sonata for violin and cello by Ravel while favourite works including Massenet’s Méditation from Thais and Debussy’s Girl with the Flaxen Hair are also on the programme.

Admission on the door will be £15, with a concessionary rate of £12 for over-65s and free entry for under-21s. Wine and soft drinks will be available in the interval.
