Witches, scarecrows, bats and ghouls at Audley End Miniature Railway for Hallowe’en half term
The spooky mist is descending on Audley End Miniature Railway as the attraction prepares for this year’s Hallowe’en extravaganza.
During half term – October 25 to November 2 – the magical woodland and passenger steam train will transform into a family-friendly ghostly playground with lots of fun to be had making potions, picking pumpkins and meeting wizards and witches.
The scenic forest train ride will feature Hallowe’en-themed trackside scenes suitable for all ages, so as not to scare anyone too much!
As the train winds through the autumnal trees, passengers will spot bears dressed up like mummies, a vampire, skeleton mermaids and scarecrows.
A stop in the woods gives passengers the chance to meet the ever-entertaining William the Wizard and find out what his magic-wacky-wand is up to.
There will be singing and dancing, and each child will receive a gift before they head back to the woodland station.
“It’s an autumnal day out filled with just the right amount of Hallowe’en magic – perfect for the whole family,” said owner Amanda Murray.
“Come along for a day in the great outdoors, stay for the spooky-not-scary magic and leave with warm memories of a joyful autumnal family day out.”
Once disembarked, families can enjoy fun attractions that include making spell-binding potions, a straw bale maze or delight in a stage show featuring a friendly witch.
And for the first time, there will be a pumpkin market. Buy your own pumpkins to take home for carving and pose for photos within the magical setting.
A walk through the fairy and elf woodland will reveal some spooky houses while the café will be serving up delicious hot chocolates and other Hallowe’en-inspired treats, such as the marshmallow toasting station.
Audley End Miniature Railway is next to Audley End House on the outskirts of Saffron Walden.
